All of the children were so excited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our school. To commemorate the week Oak Meadow launched a business and enterprise initiative where all Year groups were set the exciting challenge of designing, sourcing, making and selling a product from an initial start-up fund of £50.
In their Year groups the children also chose a decade from the 1960’s to the modern day (and our Reception classes even made suggestions for the future) to create and deliver a suitable performance for that particular era. All of this was put together into a spectacular show that parents, families and the community attended with lots of laughter and nostalgia for how the world has changed in this time and, of course, how we at Oak Meadow have also grown and changed together.
The week culminated in our celebratory 50th Summer Fayre on the school field where children sold their products to the community (generating a healthy profit), balloons were released into the air to spread the message of our 50th anniversary, families took part in games and watched as our dance group performed, some lucky people won special prizes in our raffle and of course we all enjoyed the summer barbecue that marked this special event.
Thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed our celebrations and a big thank you to all of the Friends of Oak Meadow, the staff and the children for a memorable day and a fantastic week.
