Diwali 2019

As part of our British Values and RE work, we have been learning about Diwali and why it is celebrated for both Hindus and Sikhs. Each year group has completed different activities relating to the many ways Diwali is celebrated.Year 1 listened to the story of Rama and Sita and created Rangoli patterns. Year 2 worked collaboratively to create their own exquisite firework display using pastels Year 3 have participated in a range of activities as Diwali is part of their RE unit of work. They designed their own rangoli patterns, mehndi patterns and puja tray (a tray with prayer items on) Year 4 learnt the importance of Rangoli designs and created their own using geometric designs. In addition, they learnt the symbolism behind divas and decorated paper divas to hang up. Year 5 created intricate Henna designs using geometric designs. Year 6 had a food tasting session where they tried Indian sweets and savoury snacks.
