We had a fantastic day celebrating Diwali as part of our curriculum enrichment! The whole school dressed in colourful clothes to celebrate the festival of light, celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains all over the world. We started the day with a whole-school assembly, supported by our talented choir who shared a Diwali-themed song with us. Throughout the day we shared and retold the stories of Lakshmi and Rama and Sita in a number of different ways, and took part a wide variety of activities to celebrate; we created rangoli patterns on our walls and floors, explored mehndi decorations, made diva lamps from different materials and decorated our doorways and classrooms with colour and light. We also enjoyed taking part in some energetic bhangra dancing sessions! We loved sharing our learning with each other, and discussing the different ways that people celebrate, drawing comparisons with other celebrations. A very happy Diwali to all of our Oak Meadow Family!
