Reading in Year 3!

Year 3 have made a fantastic start to their reading, wasting no time in getting stuck into a number of different texts! We loved reading ‘The Great Kapok Tree’ in our English lessons, using this wonderful picture book (which links to our geography topic on rainforests) as a prompt for our writing. As Roald Dahl day was on the 13th September (his birthday!), we explored his life through a biography in our reading sessions, and we are now enjoying reading ‘The Magic Finger’ together. We have also been very enthusiastic user of ‘Reading Plus’, our online reading program which is designed to help develop our fluency and pace; both year 3 classes are in the top 5 classes in the school for reading activities completed, and we expect to see this continue as the children begin to access the scheme at home. Well done Year 3!
