To kick-start our Year 4 curriculum, reading lessons have centred around the ever-popular fantasy novel, ‘How to Train Your Dragon’. This is a text that always captures the imaginations of our pupils and helps them to conjure ambitious vocabulary, which provides a strong platform for enhancing their flair in creative writing. Each lesson focuses on a chief VIPERS skill, though reference to each attribute is discussed and reinforced in each and every guided reading lesson.
We have welcomed parents and carers to our reading sessions, giving invaluable insight into the outstanding practice our pupils receive at Oak Meadow Primary School.
